A thriving local economy that provides for the majority of peoples’ needs and provides dignified, good paying jobs to all who wish to work. Local purchases stimulate new local businesses of all sorts and varieties.

This idea is great! I love going to the local Santa Rosa flea market on Sunday mornings. I think increasing the number of flea markets in Sonoma County could help stimulate the local economy. I also think that increasing the window of time that the Wednesday night market is open could also help support local buisnesses.

Sonoma County is in need of a farmers market that people can depend on (consistency is very important to allow people to build it into their routine) for basic fresh food necessities like produce, meats, baked goods, etc. This allows small businesses to advertise and encourages community members to shop locally and in one place.

Having a steady supply of local food is an important vision (see more on this on the soil/land section.)

Here is a good list of the great farmers' markets that already operate around the county:

https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Agriculture-Weights-and-Measures/Agriculture-Division/Certified-Farmers-Markets/

Several of them are year-round, offering produce, breads, meat and more.

I do agree that consistent offerings and more year round markets will draw more customers to shop at farmers' markets.  By supporting our local farmers today by buying as much of our food budget from them as we can -- and by creating a supportive regulatory environment -- we can help build a future food system that is more robust, consistent and diverse. If we buy it, they will come...

What a great list, thank you! I agree!
