Tree planting on a massive scale. Street trees, trees around buildings, afforested grazing land, etc. Tree species will be selected for drought tolerance (native species strongly preferred), fire-resistance, plant community, location, etc.

As an ecologist, I am all in favor of planting numerous diverse native trees. In practice, it requires extremely careful consideration to fill a neighborhood with trees without filling it with kindling. There will be many places where planting many trees simply isn't safe.
an ‘i wonder’ comment: just thinking about the possibility of setting an oxygen-production goal for our county — yes, using ecological principles for appropriate species and habitats.
We need to make sure that massive tree planting projects don't ruin the biodiversity of existing ecosystems by mass planting the same type of tree. We should focus on projects which support native species growth as well as increasing tree planting.
We also need a county moratorium on clearing oak woodland on private lands. We are experiencing rapid deforestation on private land in our county right now.
